Christopher Szawlowski - Intructor/Developer 2022-2024
Chris Szawlowski is a dedicated high school senior with a deep passion for STEM. His love for science and technology has led him to pursue enriching experiences beyond the classroom, including Saturday sessions at the Verizon Innovative Learning Lab in Manhattan and participation in the STEM Program at the New York Hall of Science in Queens. A licensed HAM radio operator, Chris enjoys exploring the intersection of communication and engineering. For the past six years, he’s been part of the Colorinmilk.org community, where he grew from a curious learner into a committed instructor, now mentoring younger students and inspiring them to embrace STEM with the same enthusiasm.
Ryan Cabrera - Intructor/Developer 2022-2024
Ryan Cabrera first joined CIM as a instructor in high school. He is currently an upcoming student at Cooper Union and enjoys many extracurricular activities such as Amateur Radio club, Chess club and is the president of the Garden School Literature Club. He also partakes in many sports such as Taekwondo and Basketball. He learns coding and engineering skills from college programs such as Vaughn STEP and Cooper Union racecar research program. He is focused on managing grades and participating in community service as well. He aims to aid communities and educate them in STEM-based activites. He hopes to continue volunteering at programs as he continues down the path of college.
Nishma Shakya - Developer
Nishma Shakya is a freshman at New York University. She likes to partake in clubs and activities that allow her to help and give back to the community and the environment. In high school she has participated in a wide range of extracurriculars, from Book Club to Soccer, in order to gain new experiences. In the summer of 2019, she was in the summer intensive program Girls Who Code, where she learned some basic coding skills in languages such as Python, CSS, and HTML. The main thing she learned there, though, is that being there for others and supporting them is very important, and if you have the passion and determination in you, you can definitely reach your goals. In her free time, she likes traveling literally anywhere, taking pictures of nature, reading, playing the guitar, listening to music, watching F.R.I.E.N.D.S., or hanging out and eating with her friends (no pun intended).
Rachel Dong
Rachel Dong first joined CIM in 2019 as an instructor and upcoming junior at the Bronx High School of Science. She enjoys working with peers on rigorous, yet enjoyable, projects. She has experience tutoring younger students and working with children in educational settings. She is a committed athlete on her crew team and practices 6 days a week year-round. She always keeps up a busy schedule and therefore, has developed skilled in multitasking, organization, and time-management. She considers herself as an outgoing person and makes friends rather easily. She gets along with others, including younger children well. Moreover, she is a dedicated and hardworking individual. She has the ability to learn things quickly. As a person with compassion, she intends on continuing to help out others in her community whenever she can.
Dong Lin
Dong Lin is currently a junior at Brooklyn Technical High School. Enrolled at Brooklyn Technical High School because of his passion for STEM, especially engineering. At Brooklyn Tech, his passion for STEM increases immensely as he interacts with his community. At free time, he likes to train his badminton skills with friends.
Liang Lin
Liang Lin joined CIM in 2019 as an assistant and is currently a junior at the Brooklyn Technical High School. He has volunteered in many organizations during his summer for the benefits of his community and the views about the importance of education to the individuals. At Tech, he enjoyed participating in chess with his companions.
Ryan Dong
Ryan Dong joined CIM in 2019 as an instructor and a sophomore at Stuyvesant High School. Ryan enjoys working and mentoring with children as well as giving himself challenges. He loves being immersed in whatever he is doing, whether it be working at his mother's restaurant or playing badminton with his fellow badminton team members. He is also in Stuyvesant Key Club where he volunteers and helps organize key club events and fundraisers. In his free time, Ryan likes to play chess as well as indulge in a nice book.
Cesia Massott Alban - Developer
Cesia Massott Alban first joined CIM in 2018 as an instructor and junior at the Bronx High School of Science. Thereafter, she found her passion for teaching as the means to communicate to others the beauty of science and mathematics. Her love for challenging problems led her to develop a coding curriculum with an emphasis on problem-solving for the organization. She became the co-president in the subsequent sessions. As a lifelong learner, she believes that education has the ability to transform and empower individuals with knowledge. Because of this, she has worked with other organizations such as Givology and the Open Data Youth Council Group at the Major’s Office of Analytics with hopes of advancing educational equity. She hopes to continue helping her community as a student of class 2023, at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Michelle Tang - Developer
Michelle Tang joined the team as a junior at Stuyvesant High School. Ever since her first STEM project in the 6th grade, she has immersed herself in creative activities regarding STEM. At Stuyvesant, she enjoyed sewing costumes as part of the Stuyvesant Theater Community and coordinating events in StuyHacks. Occasionally, she likes to go biking and rock climbing.
Yadana Ye Hut - Developer
Yadana Ye Htut joined the team as a junior at Stuyvesant high school. At Stuyvesant, she was mainly engaged in the Yearbook Committee and the Pre Med Society. Yadana has experience with kids of different ages after volunteering at the Queens Public Library during her free time. For recreation, Yadana likes to play tennis, meditate, or eat savory meals with friends. Currently, Yadana is attending Boston Uniersity.
The Founders of Color In Milk
Harrison Chan
Harrison Chan is the founder of Color in Milk and he started when he was a junior at a prestigious high school: Stuyvesant High School. He tutored students over the summer and he has also been to various tutoring centers since the third grade. During his summers, he volunteers at a local hospital in the geriatric unit. At Stuyvesant, he was part of the badminton team and enjoyed practicing and playing matches with his friends and students from other schools. He is now attending Cornell University.
Timothy Szawlowski
Timothy Szawlowski is also a founder of Color in Milk and started as a senior, but was once before homeschooled and learned a wide array of things beyond the public school curriculum. He has also participated in STEM programs and has experience in learning about it. He enjoys playing basketball and likes to partake in camping and outdoor adventures.
